We visited this absolute gem on our “Northern Parks” Fam trip in March 2013. The name may seem a little unusual, until you realise that it is actually kiswahili for “Equator”, and once said out loud, then the name is obvious! It is just outside the Murera Gate entrance of Meru National Park. It is a small family run camp which offers great value for money, with very high standards and great attention to detail.
Meru Park is also the resting place of Elsa, the famous lioness from “Born Free”, and John and Susan the owners can give you directions. Surprisingly it is not heavily promoted by Kenya Wildlife Services so it is well off the normal tourist track, but still worth a visit just for the sheer history it encompasses.
This was a lovely camp, one which I would very much like to visit again and spend longer than just one night! Also see their own website.
